Salafiyyah is The Correct Islaam, The Original Affair, The Saved Sect, The Aided Group, What Allaah revealed to His Messenger before the emergence of all the Deviant Sects

Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba'd

Salafiyyah is The Correct Islaam, The Original Affair, The Saved Sect, The Aided Group, What Allaah revealed to His Messenger before the emergence of all the Deviant Sects

Messenger of Allaah: "I am a blessed Salaf for you," and Salafiyyah is taking the Messenger as Imam in 'Aqeedah, Manhaj, Character, Manner of worship, & Understanding the entire Deen - each ayah and hadeeth - as he (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) explained it to his Companions

Know - may Allaah have mercy upon you - that Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta'aala, commanded all of mankind and jinn to single Him out with all worship, and to follow His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam), taking His Messenger as an example in all matters of the Deen.

Allaah said:

And I (Allaah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). (Adh-Dhariyat, ayah 56)

Say (O Muhammad to mankind): "If you (really) love Allaah then follow me. Allaah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Aali 'Imran, ayah 31)

Indeed in the Messenger of Allaah (Muhammad) you have an excellent example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allaah and the Last Day, and remembers Allaah much. (Al-Ahzab, ayah 21)

And Prophet Muhammad (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: "So fear Allaah, have patience, and I am a blessed Salaf (predecessor) for you (to follow)." [Bukhaaree, Muslim]

Linguistically, the Salaf are those who preceded, as Imam An-Nawawee (rahimahullaah) and many other scholars (rahimahumullaah) have explained. In the Sharee'ah, the Salaf are the Prophet ('alaihis salaatu was salaam) and all the Sahaabah; and then the Tabi'een; and then the atba' at-Tabi'een, in accordance with the statement of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wassallam): The best of mankind is my generation; then those who come after them; then those who come after them. [Bukhaaree, Muslim]

And the Salafee is the one who follows them in belief, methodology, da'wah, 'ibaadah, manners, and character. So Salafiyyah is a connection to the Salaf.

Shaikh Ahmad An-Najmee (rahimahullaah) said: "Salafiyyah does not have a leader other than the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alahi wa sallam). The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alahi wa sallam) is the Imaam of Salafiyyah and the example (that is to be followed). The companions of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alahi wa sallam) are (also) examples (to be followed). The foundation (or source) of this principle (can be found) in the statement of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alahi wa sallam):

The Jews split into seventy-one sects. The Christians split into seventy-two sects. This Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of them will be in the fire except one. They (the Sahaabah) said: "Who are they (that Saved Sect) Oh Messenger of Allaah?" He (sallallaahu 'alahi wa sallam) said: They are the ones who are upon what I and my companions are upon. [Aboo Dawood, Ibn Maajah, Ahmad, and Ad Daaramee; graded 'hasan-saheeh' by Al-Albaanee] [1]

So the best of mankind called himself a "Salaf," and as-Salafiyyah is taking the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) as the Imam and example in every matter, especially 'Aqeedah, Manhaj, Da'wah, manner of worship, and Character, and understanding the whole of the religion - each ayah and each hadeeth - as his companions (radiallaahu 'anhum) understood each ayah and each hadeeth from the teachings of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam).

Shaikh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree (hafidhahullaah) said: "And ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah is understanding the Qur`an and Sunnah as Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) commanded us to do so."

The Importance and Obligation of Following The Prophet's Companions

Furthermore, Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) commanded with following the companions, who learned the religion directly from Prophet Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and understood every ayah and every hadeeth with the legislated meaning intended by Allaah and His Messenger.

The Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) said: Hold firmly to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs after me. Hold onto it with your molar teeth. And beware of newly invented affairs, since every newly invented affair is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance and every innovation is in the Fire. [Ahmad (4/126), at-Tirmidhee (no. 2676), al-Haakim (1/96) and by al-Baghawee in Sharhus-Sunnah (1/105), authenticated by Al-Albaanee]

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said: "As-Salafiyyah is following the methodology of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and his Companions, because he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is from our Salaf. The Companions are those who preceded us, therefore following them is Salafiyyah." [From Liqa al-Baab al-Maftooh, Q.1322]

Shaikh 'Ubayd al-Jabiree (hafidhahullaah) said: "Salafiyyah isn't a new terminology; rather it is old. From that which bears witness to it is the statement of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) to Fatimah (radiallaahu 'anha): Fa ne'ma Salafu anna laki ("...I am a blessed Salaf (predecessor) for you.").

Likewise, it has been conveyed by the people of knowledge who described those upon the Book and the Sunnah as "Salafi," and described those other than them (other than those upon the Book and the Sunnah) as "Khalafi," which is the opposite of that.

And in the 4th volume of Majmoo' al-Fataawa of Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, pg. 149, he (rahimahullaah) said: "There's no shame upon the one who manifests the way of the Salaf, and affiliates himself to it (calling himself 'Salafi'); rather it is wajib to accept that from him by consensus. Verily, the way of the Salaf is nothing but the truth. So the one who is upon that and manifests it outwardly and inwardly, then he is as the Mu`min (believer) upon the truth apparently and inwardly. And he who is upon it apparently and not inwardly, then he is as a Munaafiq (hypocrite), he is upon the truth apparently only."

After mentioning that the Imams said the likes of which Ibn Taymiyyah said, and drawing attention to Ibn Taymiyyah's statement that there was a consensus regarding this, Shaikh 'Ubayd then added: "So he who affiliates himself to Salafiyyah, and he is inwardly and outwardly so, then he is a true Salafi. And we know that which is apparent, and we leave that which is inward to Allaah. If it becomes clear to us that he is upon the Salafi methodology in his 'aqeedah, his actions, his manhaj and da'wah to Allaah, then he is a Salafi. We pass a judgement upon him with that which is apparent, because the one who manifests this, we accept it from him. And if the opposite of that is confirmed upon him, then [this is] a Munaafiq, or (one who is) erroneous. Then we look into his condition." [Tape: 'Words of Wisdom to the West', by Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree]

The Wisdom Of Following The Prophet's Companions

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez Ibn Baaz (rahimahullaah) said: "Indeed the Salaf are those of the best generations. So whoever follows their footsteps and continues upon their methodology, then he is a 'Salafi.' Whoever opposes the Salaf in this methodology, then he is from the Khalaf (those who oppose the Salaf)." [al-Fatawa al-Hamaweeyah]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: I have left amongst you that which if you hold onto you will never go astray: the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah. [Al-Haakim; Hasan hadeeth]

Shaikh Muhammad ibn 'Umar Bazmool (hafidhahullaah) said: "Whoever clings to the Book of Allaah (the Qur`an) and the Sunnah will be guided. The companions were the most knowledgeable people concerning them both. So whoever follows the Book of Allaah (the Qur`an) and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf-us-Saleh (companions) will be safe." [The Salafi Methodology, pg. 18]

Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) affirmed the Sahaaba's correct understanding and implementation, and praised them and commanded us to follow them, and warned against not following them.

The Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: ...This Ummah will break up into 73 sects, all in the hellfire except for one. They said, "Which one is that, oh Messenger of Allaah?" He said: Those on that which I am upon today, and that which my companions are upon. [At-Tirmidhee, Al-Haakim; authenticated by Al-Albaanee]

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Jameel Zaynoo (rahimahullaah) said: "The noble Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) has also informed us that the Jews and Christians split up into many sects and that the Muslims will split up more than them, so these groups will be subjected to entering the Fire due to their deviations and their distancing themselves from the Book of their Lord and from the Sunnah of their Prophet.

We have been informed that the one Saved Sect from them will enter Paradise, and they are the Jama'ah, those who cling to the Book of Allaah and the authentic Sunnah and the practice of the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)." [The Methodology of The Saved Sect]

Allaah, Ta'aala, said:

And the first to embrace Islaam of the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allaah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success. (At-Tawbah, ayah 100)

The word Sabaq from - وَالسَّابِقُون - in this ayah, translated as "And the first (to embrace Islaam)" is synonymous with the word Salaf (those who preceded [upon righteousness]). Allaah said He is pleased with the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar, and of course they are the Sahaaba. Thus, Allaah not only praised them and said He is pleased with them but also revealed that the only way those coming after the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar can enter Paradise is by following them with Ihsaan (precision)!

In-sha`Allaah, this is clear.

Furthermore, the Prophet of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: The best of mankind is my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. [al-Laalikaa`ee in Sharh Usoolul-I'tiqaad Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah (no. 31).]

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said: "It has been confirmed from the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) upon several occasions that they (the Salaf) were better than the Khalaf in every virtue from knowledge, action, Eeman, intellect, Religion, explanation and worship. They were the first to explain every troubling affair. This is something that is known about the Religion of Islaam by necessity, and it is not denied except by one who is proud and misguided by Allaah upon knowledge." [Majmoo' al-Fataawa` (4/157)]

The Sahaaba were the best in understanding and knowledge of the Deen and Ikhlaas and Eeman and Taqwah and implementation and character and morals and worship, etc... Thus, the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wassallam) said: Do not abuse my Companions, for by The One in Whose Hand is my soul, were one of you to spend the equivalent of Mount Uhud in gold (in charity), it would not equal to a Mudd or even a half a Mudd spent by one of them. [Bukhaaree, Muslim, Ahmad]

Allaah said He is pleased with the Sahaaba. And Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) - in affirming the Sahaaba's correct understanding and implementation - not only commanded us with following the Sahaaba, but also said his Sunnah and their Sunnah was one and the same.

The Prophet's Sunnah and the Companions' Sunnah is One!

In the well-known hadeeth of 'Irbaad ibn Saariyah (radiallaahu 'anhu), who said the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) admonished them with an intense sermon and then said: ...Upon you is my Sunnah, and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifs after me. Hold onto it. And bite onto it with the molar teeth...
Shaikh FalaH Isma'eel (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) - making sure the attendees were alert and paying attention - asked how many Sunnahs are there? The people answered 'one (Sunnah)' correctly, maa sha` Allaah. Then the shaikh tried again, and he emphasized: 'Alaykum bi Sunnati Wa Sunnat al-khulafa ar-rashideen al-mahdiyeen min ba'dee. (Upon you is my Sunnah, and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifs after me.) The people answered 'one (Sunnah)' correctly, maa sha` Allaah.

And the shaikh confirmed the correct answer by providing the proof: [The Prophet, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:] Tamasaku biha wa 'addoo 'alayha bi nawaajidh. Hold onto it ----> singular. And bite onto it ----> singular...
Allaah, Ta'aala, said:

وَاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرا

And follow that which is inspired in you from your Lord. Verily, Allaah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Ahzab, ayah 2)

In the abridged version of the Tafseer of Imam Ibn Katheer (rahimahullaah) comes this insightful explanation: "Here Allaah points out something lower by referring to something higher. When He commands His servant and Messenger to do this, He is also commanding those who are lower than him, and the command is addressed to them more so..."

Thus, you find that Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (rahimahullaah) said on the second page of his famous Al-'Aqeedah Al-Hamawiyyah: "The Sunnah is what the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) followed in Creed, Speech and action.

Thus, Opposing The Companions' way is Opposing Allaah's Messenger

Allaah, The Most High, said:

وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدَى وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّه ِِ مَا تَوَلَّى وَنُصْلِه ِ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرا

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad, (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)) after the right path has been shown clearly to him - and follows other than the believers' (companions') way - We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell. What an evil destination. (An-Nisa`, ayah 115) The Mufassiroon have said that the believers in this ayah are the sahaaba.
Shaykh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen Al-Albanee (rahimahullaah) pointed out that Allaah says (what means) and follows other than the believers' way. Al-Albanee elaborated: "Our Lord did not stop short in this ayah. And if He would have, the ayah would still be correct and true. He [Allaah] did not say: "And whoever opposes the Messenger after the right path has been shown clearly to him, We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination." Instead, due to His infinite Wisdom, He included: And He follows a way other than the way of the believers. And this is what we are focusing on. I hope that this ayah becomes firmly grounded in your minds and in your hearts, and I hope that you don't forget it, because it is the truth.

And through it, you will be saved from deviating, drifting away to the right or to the left, and you will be saved - even in one aspect or some issue - from falling into one of the sects that are not saved, or one of the deviant sects."
So Allaah clarified that: opposing His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) is the same as following other than the way of the companions. Again:
opposing His Messenger --is-the-same-as--> following other than the way of the companions

For the way of the companions was the way of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam).

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (d.241H, rahimahullaah) said: "The fundamentals of the Sunnah with us are clinging to that which the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) were upon, taking them as examples to be followed, avoiding innovations, for every innovation is a misguidance." [Refer to Usool-us-Sunnah (p.5) of Imaam Ahmad.]

Every Muslim will claim to follow Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) - even the many who don't follow him as is clearly shown from the hadeeth of the 73 sects, 72 of whom are in the Fire - but very few will claim to follow the sahaaba even though the Sahaaba's Sunnah was the same as the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger. Not only does this expose those who don't truly follow Allaah's Messenger, but furthermore reveals the reason why - because they don't take the companions as examples as they have been commanded, and they don't understand and implement the texts in the correct, authentic, praiseworthy and legislated manner that the sahaaba understood and implemented them.

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Jameel Zaynoo (rahimahullaah) said: "Al-Firqatun-Naajiyah (the Saved Sect) is that which adheres to the manhaj (methodology) of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) during his lifetime, and to the manhaj of his Companions after him: and that is the Noble Qur`aan which Allaah revealed to His Messenger, and which he explained to his Companions in the authentic Sunnah - ordering the Muslims to cling to these two, saying: I am leaving amongst you two things, you will never go astray as long as you cling to them: the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah. They will not separate from each other, until you meet me at the Lake." [The Methodology of The Saved Sect]

So if you differ in any matter or you need to understand the true meaning of a particular ayah or the true meaning of a particular hadeeth, or the answer to a question, or the solution to a dispute, do you refer matters back to your opinion, or your desires? What is the solution?

The Sahaaba were the physical application of the Qur`an and Sunnah

Allaah said:

O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those from amongst you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allaah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. (An-Nisa`, ayah 59)

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: ...Whoever amongst you lives (long enough), he will see many differences. So upon you is my Sunnah, and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifs after me. Hold onto it. And bite onto it with the molar teeth. [At-Tirmidhee, An-Nisa`ee; declared hasan-saheeh]

What is the solution? -----> Refer matters back to Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). After the Prophet's death, this means refer matters back to the Qur`an and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the sahaaba. Find out how the sahaaba understood this, for they were the most knowledgeable concerning the Qur`an and Sunnah. Found out how the sahaaba implemented this! For the Sahaaba were the physical application of the Qur`an and Sunnah.

That's the solution! And what a benefit this is for the one with a sincere heart desiring nothing but the truth. The Muslims are divided, because most of them sadly do not implement this, and instead choose to understand the verses or the ahadeeth with their desires or their opinion or in accordance with what their shaikh says - even if it opposes the meaning intended by Allaah and His Messenger! And some of those who do understand this hide this from the people so as to direct them in a way according to their ulterior motive.

Shaikh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah) said: "So As-Salafiyyah does not simply mean sticking to the Manhaj of the Salaf in I'tiqaad (beliefs), so take note. Rather, it is much wider than that. It also comprises of sticking to their manhaj in 'ibaadat (acts of worship) and fiqh (jurisprudence), because the basic principle concerning all of that is: Sticking to the Book and the Sunnah and the actions of the Salaf, and employing their understanding of the texts, whether it be in 'aqaa`id (beliefs), 'ibaadat or dealings. This necessitates without a doubt the rejection of taqleed (blind-following) for the madhaahib and bigoted following of the opinions of men and madhaahib of the Imams if they oppose the Sharee'ah texts. And this necessitates rejection of corrupt beliefs that oppose the Book, the Sunnah and the understanding of the Salaf-us-Saalih." [Fundamentals of the Salafee Methodology]

Imaam Abu Hanifah (d.150H, rahimahullaah) said: "Stick to the narrations and the way of the Salaf, and beware of newly invented matters, for all of it is innovation." [as-Suyooti]

None in this Ummah had a greater understanding of the Religion or a better implementation of the Religion than the Sahaaba, who preserved and relayed the entire Religion - by Allaah's Permission and Success. The Sahaaba (radiallaahu 'anhum ajma'een) preserved and relayed every Ayah and every Hadeeth and every command and every prohibition and every statement and every action and even the Prophet's (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) footsteps. As an example, 'Abdullaah ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu 'anhumaa) was so keen and diligent in preserving and following the Prophet's Sunnah that he memorized the Prophet's footsteps to the masjid and would follow them en route to the masjid.

Salafiyyah is the original affair, what Allaah revealed to His Messenger Muhammad

Salafiyyah is the original affair, what Allaah revealed to His Messenger Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) - and the companions all held onto - before the emergence of all the bid'ah and ideologies and invented methodologies.

Shaikh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah Ta'aala) said: "He does not understand the meaning of Salafiyyah, the one who says this is praising oneself. Salafiyyah means the correct Islaam." [Taken from Silsilah Huda wa Noor, Tape: 725]

As the scholars, such as Shaikh Al-Albaanee, have said: Salafiyyah is from Allaah. It is taking the religion from an infallible source, as it traces back to the Prophet who conveyed it from Allaah, Subhana (free from any imperfections), al-Haqq (The Truth). Whereas all other statements and actions and beliefs don't have this protection from error.

So the Salafee is the one who holds onto this original affair and bites onto what Allaah revealed to His Messenger - rejecting all the newly invented beliefs and principles and idelogies and methodologies (such as the man-made laws, false religions, and deviant sects such as Soofiyah, the Raafidah, the Khawaarij, the Murji'ah, the Qadariyah, Ikhwanul Muslimoon, Tableeghis, grave-worshipping, Jahmiyah, Ash'aria, Kullabiyah, Mu'tazila, etc...).

The Salafee is the one who - by Allaah's Permission and Success - has held onto the 'aqeedah and manhaj that Allaah revealed, that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and the companions held onto.

Abu Waaqid al-Laythee (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: We were sitting in the company of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). So he (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Indeed, it will become a fitnah. The companions did not pay attention, so Mu'aadh ibn Jabal (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: Do you not listen to the Messenger of Allaah? They said: What did he (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) say? Mu'aadh then repeated to them what he (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said. So they, in turn, said: What is the way out of it, oh Messenger of Allaah? He (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: You should return to your original state of affairs. [At-Tabaraanee in al-Awsat, no. 8679; Saheeh]

This why Abul 'Aaliyah (d. 90H, rahimahullaah) said: "Cling to the first affair that they (i.e the Salaf) were upon before they (the Muslims) began to split (i.e. into groups and sects)." [Collected by Abu Nu'aym in Al-Hilyah (2/218) and Al Marwazi in As-Sunnah (26)]

And this is why Sufyaan Ath-Thawree (d. 161H, rahimahullaah) said: "Hence you must take to the original affair, hold tight to it, and you should take to being unknown, for indeed this is the age to remain unknown..." [Related by Aboo Nu'aym in Al-Hilyah (6/376-377)]

Abu 'Abdullaah Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Bushanji said: "They [all Muslims] should make the principles that were revealed in the Qur`an and found in the Sunnah of the Messenger the focus of their intellects. They should not make their intellects the focus and basis from which they derive principles." [Dhamm al-Kalaam by al-Harawee]

Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan said: "Salafiyyah is the original foundation, oh my brother; it is not a party from amongst the various parties. It is the original foundation, and whatever opposes it is falsehood. Yes, they may be called a party because Allaah said:

أُوْلَائِكَ حِزْبُ اللَّهِ

They are the party of Allaah. (al-Mujaadilah, ayah 22)

We say yes it is a party, but it is the Party of Allaah, and whatever opposes it is the party of the Shaytaan as Allaah said:

أُوْلَائِكَ حِزْبُ الشَّيْطَانِ

They are the party of the Shaytaan. (al-Mujaadilah, ayah 19)

Yes. Yes... However, as for you saying that Salafiyyah is a party and then you remain silent, then no. [Rather] say, 'Salafiyyah is the party of Allaah,’ because Allaah called them the party of Allaah. Yes."

Allaah, Ta'aala, has obligated upon us sticking to the Original Affair (Salafiyyah), and made it a condition for us being saved from the hellfire, and has included in this the solution to all our problems.

Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan said: "Salafiyyah: It is the Saved Sect, and they are Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah; it is not a sect from amongst the party spirited groups that are labeled with partisanship (hizbeeyah); it [Salafiyyah] is a Jamaa'ah upon the Sunnah and the Deen. He (the Prophet) sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: There will not cease to be a group of my nation manifest upon the truth, not being harmed by those who abandon them, nor by those who oppose them. [Muslim]

He (the Prophet) sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: This Ummah will split into seventy-three sects all of them in the fire except one. They (the Companions) asked: "Which one is it (the Saved sect) oh Messenger of Allaah?" He (the Prophet sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Those who are upon what I and my Companions are upon today. [at-Tirmidhee]

So Salafiyyah is a group upon the methodology of the Salaf, upon that which the Messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam and his Companions were upon; that is not a sect from the party spirited sects of today. Indeed it (as-Salafiyyah) is an ancient Jamaa'ah traced back to the time of the Messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, a continually inherited legacy remaining manifest upon the truth up until the establishment of the Hour as he - sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam - informed." [Daar Al-Minhaaj, pg. 134]

As you can see Salafiyyah (the Original Affair, the Correct Islaam, what Allaah revealed to Muhammad) is clear. Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: I have left you upon clear proof (clarity), its night is like its day. No one deviates from it except one who is destroyed. [Ahmad, Ibn Majah, Al-Haakim; declared Saheeh by Al-Albaanee]

In-sha`Allaah, it is clear to you the tremendous importance of adhering to the sole path that leads to Jannah - The Saved Sect from the 73 - the way of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and his companions (Salafiyyah), and the danger of all the other paths.

The Ocean of Difference Between Salafiyyah (The Saved Sect) and all 72 Destroyed Sects in the Hellfire!

Shaikh 'Ubaid al-Jaabiree said: "So you do not find a Khalafee (one who opposes Salafiyyah), especially from those who ascribe themselves to the modern-day Da'wah groups (such as the Ikhwanees, Tableeghis, Soofees, Raafidah, etc...), except that he hates the ascription to Salafiyyah. Because Salafiyyah is not just an ascription, rather Salafiyah is singling out pure sincerity for Allaah, and singling out following the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)." [Tape: Qawa`id wa Usool Fil Manhaj as-Salafee

Shaikh 'Ubayd also said: "And all the new da'wah groups are opponents to Salafiyyah, and they are all enemies to the Sunnah. This is because they are astray and lead others astray. And what is sufficient as a proof of their misguidance is that they have all been established upon the statements of mankind and the foundations laid by mankind... But as for Salafiyyah, it has no founder from amongst mankind, rather it is from Allaah! It was [conveyed] by the Prophets and Messengers." [#30 Islaah Salafiyyah Magazine]

Shaikh 'Ubayd also said: "Ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah is the pure Religion which calls to Tawheed and sincerity of worship. It is the Da'wah or the call to belief in Allaah, His Angels, His Books, His Mesengers, the Day of Judgement, and belief in Qadr (pre-Decree). Therefore, ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah is the da'wah of all the Prophets, from Adam who was the first Prophet all the way to Muhammad (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) who was the last and final Prophet to be sent to mankind. May peace and blessings be upon them all. Therefore, the history of ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah begins with the first Prophet."

And singling out Allaah with Ikhlaas, and singling out His Messenger in terms of following him and no one in opposition to him, this - dear Muslim brothers and sisters - is true implementation of Ash-Shahadatayn (the two testimonies of faith): I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

So worshipping other than Allaah ----> opposes and negates La illaaha il Allaah,

and:

refusing to follow Allaah's Messenger ------> opposes and negates Muhammad Rasulullaah.

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Jameel Zaynoo (rahimahullaah) said: "The Saved Sect values Tawheed: and it is to single out Allaah alone in worship - in supplication, in seeking aid and assistance, in seeking refuge in times of ease and hardship, in sacrificing and vow-making, in placing total reliance and trust in Him, and in judging by what Allaah has revealed, and all other forms of worship. These are the foundations upon which the true Islaamic governance is based. It is therefore essential to remove shirk (associating partners with Allaah in those matters that are particular to Him) and its manifestations - which is present in most of the Muslim countries - since this is a requirement of Tawheed. And victory is not possible when Tawheed is neglected, nor can Shirk be fought with its like. We must - in this - follow the examples of the Prophets and in particular the example of our noble Prophet ('alayhim as-salaatu wa salaam).

The Saved Sect revive the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) in their 'ibaadah (worship), sulook (behavior) and in their lives, thus becoming strangers amongst the people - as Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said in his saying: Islaam started as something strange and will return as something strange as it began, so Toobaa (a tree in Paradise) is for the Strangers. [Muslim] In another narration: ...so Toobaa is for the Strangers. Those who correct and put right what the people have corrupted. [Reported by Abu 'Amr Ad-Daani with an authentic chain of narration]

The Saved Sect does not cling to the sayings of anyone, except the saying of Allaah and the saying of His infallible Messenger, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, who does not speak from his own desires. As for every other person - however elevated his rank - then he errs and makes mistakes, according to his (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) saying: All the children of Aadam err and commit mistakes, and the best of those who make mistakes are those who turn in repentance. [Hasan hadeeth; reported by Ahmad]

Imaam Maalik (d. 179H) - rahimahullaah - said: 'There is no one after the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), except that you can take his saying or leave it, with the exception of the Prophet, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.'" [The Methodology of The Saved Sect]

And know - may Allaah safeguard you from evil - that the Jama'ah is not the majority, as many people falsely believe. Rather the Jama'ah is as 'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: "The Jamaa'ah is what accords to the truth, even if you are alone." [al-Laalikaa`ee in Sharh Usool I'tiqaad Ahlis-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) foretold: "There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah upon the truth, uppermost. They will not be harmed by those who desert them or those who oppose them, until the affair of Allaah - the Blessed and Exalted - arrives, and they are in this state." [Muslim] This Taa`ifatul Mansoora (Aided Group) will always exist - from the time of the sahaaba until Allaah's Command comes - upon the truth and repelling falsehood and distortions, not fearing the blame of the blamers.

Imaam al-Awzaa'ee (d. 157H, rahimahullaah) said: "Adhere to the narrations of the Salaf (the Prophet and Sahaaba), even if the people were to abandon you. And beware of the opinions of people, no matter how much they beautify it with speech." [Related by al-Khateeb al-Baghdadee in Sharafu Ashaabul-Hadeeth, pg.7]

Know - may Allaah safeguard you from evil - that all the followers of the deviant, invented groups follow the deviant founder of that group, the deviant founder who refused to submit to the 'Aqeedah and Manhaj that Allaah obligated upon all mankind and jinn. Instead this deviant founder invented a new belief, a new ideology and new methodology. And refuge in Allaah is taken from this bold act, and from meeting Allaah on the Day of Judgement with this!

Allaah said:

O you who believe! Do not put (yourselves) forward before Allaah and His Messenger, and fear Allaah. Verily! Allaah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (Al-Hujurat, ayah 1) The Mufassiroon have explained that this is a warning against preceding the statements of Allaah and His Messenger with your statement, or placing your or anyone's opinions or statements above the statement of Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).

Shaikh Rabee' bin Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) said: "This order remains until the Last Day and will never be nullified. So preceding the Sunnah [any matter of the religion] with any affair after the death of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is the same as preceding him (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) during his life. And those who possess sound intellect see no difference between the two.

Mujaahid (rahimahullaah) said: 'Do not undermine the Messenger of Allaah.'" [The Status of The Messenger and His Rights]

Imam As-Sa'dee (rahimahullaah) said in Tayseer Kareem ar-Rahmaan concerning the first three ayat of Soorat Al-Hujoorat: "This contains and clarifies the manners, etiquettes that we should observe with Allaah, and with His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)."

Ibn 'Abbaas - radiallaahu 'anhu - said: "I fear that stones will descend upon you from the sky, that I say to you 'the Messenger of Allaah said,' and you say to me that 'Abu Bakr and 'Umar say' (something else)!" [Ahmad, Ibn 'Abd ul-Barr; Saheeh]

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta'aala, said:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تَرْفَعُوا أَصْوَاتَكُمْ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ النَّبِيِّ وَلاَ تَجْهَرُوا لَه ُ بِالْقَوْلِ كَجَهْرِ بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَنْ تَحْبَطَ أَعْمَالُكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لاَ تَشْعُرُونَ

Oh you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not. (Al-Hujurat, ayah 2)

Pay close attention to what Imam Ibnul-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said about this ayah: "Do you think if you raise an 'aqeedah or manhaj above the 'aqeedah or manhaj of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) that your deeds will not be erased, whereas Allaah revealed if you raise your voice above the Prophet's your deeds will be erased?"

Subhan-Allaah! May Allaah protect the Muslims from Shirk and Bid'ah! [2]

For the 'Aqeedah and Manhaj of the Salaf is the Qur`an and Sunnah. And Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: I am leaving amongst you two things, you will never go astray as long as you cling to them: the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah.

So the 'Aqeedah and Manhaj of the Salaf is Ma'sooma (infallible, protected from error). If you live upon the Salafee 'Aqeedah and Manhaj, you are protected from going astray as long as you cling to them. And if you die upon this - success! You are promised, guaranteed Jannah (Paradise)! And you want to oppose this infallible creed and methodology with the ideology of so and so?

Allaah said:

Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed. And had it not been for a decisive Word (gone forth already), the matter would have been judged between them. And verily, for the Dhaalimoon (polytheists and wrong-doers), there is a painful torment. (Ash-Shura, ayah 21)

You will find scholars also bringing this above verse in warning against bid'ah because the innovator, as the scholars have stated: "is behaving with a characteristic of the polytheists in his legislating into religious acts that which Allaah has not sanctioned." [3]

Shaykh Zayd al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) said: "...So there can be no consideration nor respect for him because he introduced a Bid'ah that is not from the Religion into the Religion. And in this respect, he [the person of bid'ah] is like a legislator, as if he is making laws along with Allaah, and this shows the danger of Bid'ah in the Religion..."

Allaah said:

Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilaah (god), and Allaah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allaah? Will you not then remember? (Al-Jathiyah, ayah 23)

This is the one whose desires dictate to him what is halal and haram - Refuge in Allaah is taken! - instead of declaring halal what Allaah and His Messenger declared halal, and declaring haram what Allaah and His Messenger declared haram.

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me. [Bukhaaree (5063), Muslim (1401)]

Shaikh 'Abdul-MuHsin al-'Abbaad (hafidhahullaah) said: "The word Sunnah in this hadeeth bears the broadest meaning of the word Sunnah, since it is referring to the Prophet's way and what he was upon. So it consists of everything that has been stated in the Book of Allaah and reported in the Sunnah of His Messenger." [An Explanation of The Conditions, Pillars and Requirements of the Salat, pg. 228]

Now pay close attention how this can lead to apostasy!

Bid'ah leads to Kufr!

Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez bin 'Abdillaah Ar-Raajihee (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) said in his explanation of The Nullifiers of Islaam:

"Whoever believes that there is some guidance better than the guidance of the Prophet, such as by saying: 'The way of the philosophers, the Sabians and the Sufis is better than the way of Muhammad' or 'There is guidance in this way' or 'It is like the guidance of the Prophet.' Such a person who says this is a disbeliever. This is because there is no guidance that is better than the guidance of Allaah's Messenger, since he does not speak from his desire rather it is only revelation that has been sent down to him. So whoever says that there is a guidance better than the guidance of the Messenger of Allaah or similar to it, such as by him practicing or seeking a way towards Allaah through the philosophical or Sabian or Sufi way, then such a person is a disbeliever, an apostate.

Likewise, when someone believes that there is a judgement that is better than the judgement of the Prophet, such as when one believes that ruling by man-made laws is better than ruling by the Sharee'ah (Divine Legislation), this person is an apostate according to the unanimous agreement of the Muslims. The same goes for if one believes that ruling by man-made laws is similar to ruling by the Sharee'ah, as he also commits disbelief. Similarly, if he believes that ruling by the Sharee'ah is better than ruling by man-made laws, however it is permissible to rule by man-made laws, such as by him saying: 'People have free choice – it is permissible for one to rule by man made laws and it is permissible for him to rule by the Sharee'ah, however the Sharee'ah is better,' then such a person has committed disbelief according to the consensus of the Muslims. People do not have free choice in this matter. And this person has rejected something that is known from the Religion by necessity."

Refuge in Allaah is taken!
So what about those sects, such as the Raafidah and the Soofiyah and their Tariqas and the Deobandis and the Barelwis, who direct acts of worship (du'aa, slaughtering, seeking refuge, reliance, tawaaf) to the dead or to the righteous and Prophets and Messengers?

We have been strongly warned against opposing the correct 'aqeedah and manhaj, and those who do so are severely threatened. Allaah, Ta'aala, said:

وَلاَ تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعا ً كُلُّ حِزْب ٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ

...and be not of Al-Mushrikoon (the disbelievers in Tawheed, polytheists, idolaters, etc.). Of those who split up their religion (i.e. who left Tawheed), and became sects, [i.e. they invented new things in the religion (Bid'ah), and followed their vain desires], each sect rejoicing in that which is with it. (Ar-Room, ayat 31-32)

Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad) have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allaah, Who then will tell them what they used to do. (Al-An'aam, ayah 159) ------> Allaah freed His Messenger from these people who follow these invented sects ( Soofiyah, the Raafidah, the Khawaarij, the Murji'ah, the Qadariyah, Ikhwanul Muslimoon, Tableeghis, grave-worshipping, Jahmiyah, Ash'aria, Kullabiyah, etc...).

Allaah said:

And verily this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Muttaqoon (pious). (Al-An'aam, ayah 153)

Ash-Sha'bee related from Nu'man Ibn Basheer (radiallaahu 'anhumma): Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: "...The Jama'ah is a mercy, and division is a punishment." [Ahmad; Hasan]

For these and other reasons, some of the Salaf used to say: "I don't know which of the two blessings upon me is greater, the blessing that Allaah 'Azza wa Jall guided me to Islaam from amongst all the religions, or the blessing that Allaah 'Azza wa Jall guided me to the Sunnah from amongst all the groups, sects. They are two great blessings: the blessing of Islaam and the Sunnah."

The Saved Sect is The Straight Path that leads to Paradise; Leaving The Straight Path leads to the Hellfire!

Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan also said: "The Jamaa'ah of as-Salafiyyah is the Jamaa'ah which is upon the truth, and it is the one that it is obligatory to belong to, act in accordance with and to ascribe to. And everything else from amongst the 'jamaa'aat,' then it is obligatory that they not be considered jamaa'aat of da'wah, because they are in opposition. How can we follow a sect that opposes the Jamaa'ah of Ahlus-Sunnah and the guidance of the Salafus-Saalih?!

Whatever opposes the Jamaa'ah of Salafiyyah, then it opposes the manhaj of the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). It is in opposition to whatever the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and his Companions were upon.

So the statement of the speaker that the Jamaa'ah of Salafiyyah is one of the Islaamic jamaa'aat, this is an error! The Jamaa'ah of Salafiyyah is the sole Jamaa'ah that it is obligatory to follow, to traverse upon its manhaj, to be affiliated with and to make Jihaad with. And everything else besides it, then it is not permissible for the Muslim to affiliate himself with any of that, because it is in opposition.

So is the person pleased to be affiliated with the opponents to the manhaj of the Salaf? The Muslim is not pleased with this. The Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs after me. [Aboo Daawood] And he (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Whosoever is upon what I am upon today, and my Companions. [at-Tirmidhee] So does a person desire salvation, but he traverses other than its path? 'You hope for salvation, but you do not traverse its path; Indeed, the ship does not sail upon dry land.'" [Fataawaa 'Ulamaa` fil-Jamaa'aat, via Minhaajus-Sunnah Recordings in ar-Riyaad]

'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: The Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) drew a line with his hand (in the sand) and said: 'This is Allaah's path, leading straight.' He then drew lines to the right and left of that line and said, 'These are the other paths, on each path there is a devil who calls to it.' He then recited (Allaah's statement):

وَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيما ً فَاتَّبِعُوه ُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِه ِ ذَلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُمْ بِه ِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

And verily, this is My straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path. (Al-An'aam, ayah 153)." [Ahmad, An-Nisa`ee and Al-Hakim authenticated it; Saheeh]

A man asked Ibn Mas'ood, "What is As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim (The Straight Path)?" Ibn Mas'ood replied, "Muhammad left us at its lower end and its other end is in Paradise. To the right of this Path are other paths, and to the left of it are other paths, and there are men (on these paths) calling those who pass by them. Whoever goes on the other paths will end up in the Fire. Whoever takes the Straight Path will end up in Paradise." Ibn Mas'ood then recited the ayah (which means): And verily, this is My straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path. (Al-An'aam, ayah 153) [Recorded by Ibn Jarir]

Mujaahid said: "As-Subul (the paths) means the innovations and the doubtful matters."

All Praise is for Allaah, Who has clarified His Religion with a perfect and complete clarification. So hold onto what Allaah revealed to Muhammad, and do not place the 'aqeedah or manhaj or statement of anyone above what Allaah revealed. Do not answer these callers to the hellfire, no matter how much they beautify their statements and their smiles, and now matter how much dunya they offer you.

As for the Salafees, they single out Allaah with all worship, believe as He commanded all of mankind and jinn to believe, and they follow no one in opposition to His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), about whom Allaah said:

وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى إِنْ هُوَ إِلاَّ وَحْي ٌ يُوحَى

He does not speak from his own desires. It was revelation revealed to him. (An-Najm, ayat 3-4)

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Verily, I have been given the Qur`an and its like (Sunnah) along with it. [Ahmad in his Musnad, Abu Dawood and ad-Daarimee; Saheeh]

Imam Al-Awza'ee (rahimahullaah) narrated on the authority of Hassan ibn 'Attiyah (rahimahullaah), who said: "Jibreel ('alayhi salaam) used to descend to the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) with the Sunnah just as he would bring down the Qur`an to him, and he would teach it to him just as he would teach him the Qur`an." [Al-Lalaaka`ee in SharH Usool I'tiqaad Ahl Al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah]

Imam Sufyaan ath-Thawree (rahimahullaah) said similar.

Shaikh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah Ta'aala) said: "Da'wat-us-Salafiyyah wages war against al-Hizbeeyah (partisanship) in all its different forms. The reason is very clear: Da'wat-us–Salafiyyah affiliates to a infallible individual, and he is the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Therefore, whosoever deviates away from these people (the Salaf), then we do not call him a 'Salafi'." [al-Ajweebah al-Mufeedah]

Shaikh 'Ubaid al-Jaabiree (hafidhahullaah) said: "Ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah was not founded by any specific person. And perhaps this is the reason why people ask 'when did ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah begin?' So I say that: Ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah was not founded or established by any one specific person. Rather, the Prophets and Messengers were sent with this da'wah by Allaah the Glorified and Exalted. Therefore, my son, the origin of ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah is the text (Qur`an and Sunnah) and Ijma` (consensus of the scholars) and its origin is not based upon a simple notion, concept or opinion. So the leaders of ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah are the Prophets ('alayhimus-salaam) and they are the Imaams of the creation."

Islaam humiliates all other religions, and likewise Salafiyyah exposes all the deviant sects.

Shaikh 'Ubayd added: "So the history of ad-Da'watus-Salafiyyah is not something that can be limited to one hundred years or two hundred years or five hundred years. The only thing that can be limited to a specific time period are the activities of certain astray groups such as Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen and Jama'at at-Tableegh and the Surooriyah/Qutubiyah and other than them from the da'wah groups that have recently arisen."

The noble scholar Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) was asked: Is entry into Paradise or the Fire dependant upon the soundness of Manhaj (methodology)?

Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) answered: "Yes. If the Manhaj is sound, then the person will be from amongst the people of Paradise, since he will be upon the Manhaj of the Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and the Manhaj of the Salaf-us-Saalih (radiallaahu 'anhum). He will be from amongst the people of Paradise, by the Permission of Allaah.

If he traverses a misguided methodology, then he will be an Innovator in the Fire. So the soundness of Manhaj - or lack thereof - determines a person's entry into Paradise or the Fire." [Refer to Al-Ajwibatul-Mufeedah (pg. 77)]

So if a caller comes and invites to the sittings or the books of the Soofiyah or their infamous misguided Tariqas or the Deobandiyyah or the Barelwis, then you reject this call to the hellfire because of what has been confirmed concerning these sects regarding their opposition to the Qur`an and Sunnah, such as their worshipping of the graves, calling upon the dead, and giving the righteous the exclusive right that only Allaah deserves, and their deviant belief that The Creator and the creation are one, and their celebration of the Prophet's birthday, etc...!

Allaah said:

Say (O Muhammad): "I invoke only my Lord (Allaah Alone), and I associate none as partners along with Him." (Al-Jinn, ayah 20)

And Allaah revealed about Himself:

وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِه ِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ

And He (Allaah) is the Irresistible, above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things. (Al-An'am, ayah 18)

So if a caller comes and invites to the sittings or the books of the evil Raafidah (who deceptionally call themselves Shee'ah) or their vile off-shoot sects such as the Ithna 'Ashariyyah, Imaamiyah, Ismaa'eeliyah, Druze, Zaydiyyah, Ja'fariyyah, etc... then you reject this call to the hellfire because of what has been confirmed concerning these vile sects regarding their opposition to the Qur`an and Sunnah, such as their worshipping of the graves, calling upon the dead, attributing to their Imams attributes that are specific to Allaah, and cursing the Sahaaba, and denying the completion of the Qur`an, and denying Muhammad's Messengership, and their hatred for Jibreel, and exaggerating with the status of Ahlul-Bayt beyond the status that Allaah generously gave them, their infamous deception and lying, etc...

Say (O Muhammad): "Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allaah, the Lord of all that exists). He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims." (Al-An'am, ayat 162-163)

And Allaah said:

Say: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allaah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected." (An-Naml, ayah 65)

So if a caller comes and invites to the sittings or the books of the Khawaarij (who deceptionally call themelves Ikhwanul Muslimoon, Hizb-ut-Tahreer, Qutbiyoon, Surooriyoon), then you reject this call to the hellfire because of what has been confirmed concerning these sects regarding their opposition to the Qur`an and Sunnah, such as their making takfeer of Muslims (for other than Shirk) and cursing and rebelling against the Muslim rulers and belittling the Sunnah and committing acts of terrorism and their call to democracy and their seeking to unify the religions.

Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allaah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa`, ayah 48)

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islaam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. (Aali 'Imran, ayah 85)

So if a caller comes and invites to the sittings or the books of the Jahmeeyah or Ash'areea or Kullabiyah or Mu'tzila, then you reject this call to the hellfire because of what has been confirmed concerning these sects regarding their opposition to the Qur`an and Sunnah, such as their denial of Names and/or Attributes of Allaah and distorting His Attributes and resembling His Attributes to the attributes of the creation and denying that the Qur`an is the Speech of Allaah and denying that Allaah hears and sees and is above the heavens, etc...

Allaah, Ta'aala, said:

وَلِلَّهِ الأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى فَادْعُوه ُ بِهَا وَذَرُوا الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَائِه ِ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allaah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do. (Al-A'raf, ayah 180)

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) foretold: The Hour will not be established until groups from my Ummah will join the polytheists and until they worship the idols. [Saheeh; reported by Abu Dawood, with a similar meaning reported by Muslim] As the scholars have explained, idol-worshipping means worshipping other than Allaah.

So Allaah revealed to His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) what would occur - after the Prophet's death - from fitan and the many callers to the hellfire and the groups from this Ummah who will fall into idol-worshipping. And from His perfect Mercy and Wisdom, Allaah also provided the remedy and the solution.

Don't Leave The Straight Path; Don't Answer the Invitation of Those Callers to The Hellfire from mankind and Jinn!

The truth is clear, and thus those who oppose the truth are exposed.

Thus, the deviant callers who invite to these deviant sects (such as the Soofiyah, Raafidah, Ikhwanul Muslimoon, Ash'ariyah, Tableeghis) attempt to deceive the Muslims by using eloquency and flattering speech to conceal their ulterior motives and other deceptions and lies and fabricated and weak ahadeeth and trickery to lay down invented principles and sayings with the intent to separate the Muslim from the truth of the Qur`an and Sunnah. By doing this, these unsuspecting listeners or readers fall into false beliefs and methodologies and acts of worship that could nullify their Islaam.

In some cases, these callers such as those from the Raafidah and Soofiyyah will attempt to separate their listeners or readers from any attachment to the Qur`an and Sunnah. Rather, this has reached such an extent that some of these callers, after brainwashing the people upon this deception, then tell their followers "whoever acts upon the Qur`an and Sunnah is a kaafir," whereas the Qur`an and Sunnah (and the Ijma') are the only sources of Islaam. [4]

And this is the effect of sitting with Ahlul-Bid'ah, a matter that Allaah and His Messenger warned against. [5]

As Shaikh Muhammad al-'Aqeel (hafidhahullaah) said: "So therefore, bid'ah takes (away) a person's sense - a trial so severe that he will encounter something bad and see it as something 'good.' It takes away the firmness. Bid'ah takes away the things that makes a person firm. Holding onto the Sunnah is like holding onto pillars, columns."

And undoubtedly - as has come in the Qur`an and numerous ahadeeth - bid'ah leads ---> to the hellfire.

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) foretold of this in the well-known hadeeth of Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman: ..(A time will come) when there will be Du'aat (callers) standing and inviting at the gates of Hell. Whosoever responds to their call they will throw them into the fire... [Bukhaaree, Muslim]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: What I fear most for my Ummah are the misguiding Imams. [Bukhaaree, Ahmad, at-Tabaraanee]

The Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Indeed some eloquent speech has the influence of magic." [Bukhaaree]

This is why 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (radiallaahu 'anhu) told Ziyaad ibn Hudayr, "Do you know what [things] destroy Islam? They are the death of a scholar, the munaffiq who argues using the Qur`an, and the Imams who lead the people astray." [ad-Daarimee (1/71), and others].

Al-Hasan Al-Basree (rahimahullaah Ta'aala) said: "By Allaah, were a person to live in these evil times yet search for the Sunnah and ask about it, saying, "All I want is the Sunnah of Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)," while this person is saying "Come to me," and that person is saying "Come to me," such a person will have a great reward stored up for him, so you too - In-sha`Allaah - should be like him!" [The Journey of The Strangers]

Shaikh Saalih al-Fawzaan said, "O young men! Be warned against the callers to misguidance for indeed, today, the callers to misguidance are many. The Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) has issued warnings against them. He (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: 'What I fear most for my nation is those Imams who will lead astray' - and they are those who lead [others] to misguidance.

And he (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, 'What I fear most for my Ummah is every hypocrite with a sharp tongue.' This is the one who possesses eloquent, impressive speech, is capable of promoting his shubuhaat (doubts), falsifying the reality, and delivering that to the people. Then, the ignorant one thinks that it is knowledge and proof, whilst it is an illusion and deceit. So upon you is that you direct your attention to knowledge, and obtain it from those who are well known to be well versed in it....Knowledge is acquired from the 'ulemma (genuine scholars)."

The Importance of Being Firmly Grounded Upon The Fundamentals of This Perfect Religion - and Holding Onto It

Al-Qalshaani (rahimahullaah) said: "The Salaf as-Salih were the first generations deeply-rooted upon knowledge, guided with the guidance of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), preservers of his Sunnah. Allaah Ta'ala chose them for the companionship of His Prophet. Allaah selected them to establish His Deen and was pleased with them to be the Imams of the Ummah, and they rightfully fought Jihaad in the path of Allaah, they exerted themselves in advising the Ummah and benefiting them, and they sacrificed themselves for the pleasure of Allaah.

Allaah Ta'ala mentioned the Muhajiroon and the Ansar in the Ayaat, then he praised their followers, and He was pleased with those who came after them for following them.

Allaah promised those who opposed the Salaf and those who followed other than their way with punishment. Allaah, The Most High, said:

وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدَى وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّه ِ مَا تَوَلَّى وَنُصْلِه ِ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرا

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad, (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)) after the right path has been shown clearly to him - and follows other than the believers' (companions') way - We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. (An-Nisa, ayah 115)
Therefore it is obligatory to follow them in that which they narrated, to follow their footsteps in that which they acted upon, and seeking forgiveness for them. Allaah Ta'ala said:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِأَخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالإِيمَانِ وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلّا ً لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوف ٌ رَحِيم

And those who came after them say: 'Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful.' (Al-Hashr, ayah 10)." [Tahreer al-Maqalah min Sharh ar-Risalah]

Shaikh Falaah Ismaa'eel (hafidhahullaah) said: "As-Salafiyyah is to follow the Salaf; this is because an individual is either going to be Salafy or Khalafy. The Salafy (or Salafyyah) is an ascription to the Salaf, meaning that he connects himself to the Salaf. This ascription, however, does not imply kinship, blood ties, race, descent, or skin color. Rather, it only (points to the state) of being upon that which the Salaf were upon from Deen (Religion), just as the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) mentioned when (discussing the fact) that the Ummah would split, and making it clear that the Saved Group is the Jama'ah.

Then he (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) made it clear that it is obligatory upon the Ummah to be upon that which (he) the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and his companions were upon. They are our Salaf (predecessors) in the Deen."

It is obligatory to follow and traverse the methodology of the Prophet and his Sahaaba, and it is haram to follow and traverse the methodology of anyone in opposition to the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and his Sahaaba. And some from the many proofs for this have already preceded, and from them is the Prophet's statement: Upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs after me. [Aboo Daawood]

It is obligatory to believe as the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and his Sahaaba believed, and it is haram to adopt a belief that opposes the belief of the Prophet and his Sahaaba.

So if they believe in the like of that which you (O Muhammad and your companions) believe, then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allaah will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah, ayah 137)

It is obligatory to worship Allaah with Ikhlaas and in the manner the Prophet and his Sahaaba worshipped Allaah, and it is haram to worship upon bid'ah.

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended... [Bukhaaree]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Whoever introduces into this affair of ours (Islaam) what is not from it, it will be rejected. [Bukhaaree, Muslim]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: Whosoever does an action that is not from this affair of ours (Islaam), then it is rejected. [Muslim]

Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) also said: Whoever does an action different than ours, then it is rejected. [Abu Dawood; saheeh]

'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (radiallaahu 'anhumma) said: "All bid'ah is misguidance even if the people see it as good." [al-Laalikaai (126) Ibn Batta (205) Baihaqi in Madkhal ila Sunnan (191) ibn Nasr (70) with an authentic chain].

And his (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) statement: Pray as you have seen me pray. [Bukhaaree]

And his statement: Take from me your Hajj rituals. [Muslim]

Allaah said:

Then We have put you (O Muhammad) on a plain way of (Our) commandment. So follow you that, and follow not the desires of those who know not. (Al-Jathiyah, ayah 18)

The one who refuses to do this - follow the Prophet and his sahaaba - is upon a great danger, due to the statement of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam): And my Ummah will split up into seventy-three sects - all of them will be in the Hellfire, except one. They said: "Which one is it, o Messenger of Allaah?" He said: It is that which I and my Companions are upon.

So safety from the hellfire lies in being upon what the Prophet and his Sahaaba were upon.

Shaikh Ahmad An-Najmee (rahimahullaah Ta'aala) said: "As for whoever obeys this and that one and follows this one and that one in disobedience to Allaah 'Azza wa Jall, then he will be remorseful on the Day of Judgement.

And the Day when the wrong-doer will bite at his hands in regret; he will say: "I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Woe to me! Would that I had not taken that one as a friend! Indeed, he led me astray from the Reminder (this Qur`an) after it had come to me. And Shaytan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man." (Al-Furqan, ayat 27-29) It is said to you - Oh Servant of Allaah - follow the Book of Allaah. Follow the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Follow the Salaf-us-Saalih, from the tabi'een and the atba'ut-tabi'een from the people of the first three generations of Muslims whom the Prophet of guidance praised, those with radiant faces, arms and feet to Paradise.

So you say, 'no,' and turn away for the sake of following the people of bid'ah in their bid'ah and the people of desires upon their misguidance. Do you not know that those who love one another - the followers and those who are followed, the leadership and the subordinates - will be cursing one another on the Day of Judgement, and that allegiance will turn to enmity?

Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other - except the righteous. (Az-Zukhruf, ayah 67)

And Allaah, Tabarak wa Ta'aala, said:

وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ مَوْقُوفُونَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ يَرْجِعُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْض ٍ الْقَوْلَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِلَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا لَوْلاَ أَنْتُمْ لَكُنَّا مُؤْمِنِينَ

If you could see when the wrongdoers are made to stand before their Lord, refuting each other's words. Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: "Had it not been for you, we should certainly have been believers!" (Saba', ayah 31)

And refer to the two ayat after it from Soorat Saba`.

So fear Allaah concerning yourself - oh servant of Allaah - and follow the truth. You will be saved and rightly-guided and receive Paradise - the best residence." [Commentary on al-Muzani's Sharh-us-Sunnah; Pgs. 73-74]

Shaikh Al-Albanee's Refutation of Some of The Doubts People Ignorantly Spread Concerning Salafiyyah

Here is a transcript of a highly beneficial exchange between Shaikh al-Albanee (rahimahullaah) and a questioner:

Allaah Has Named us "Muslims," So Why call ourselves "Salafi"?

This doubt was very beautifully answered by Imaam al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah) in his discussion with someone on this subject, recorded on the cassette entitled "I am Salafi." Here is a presentation of the vital parts of it:

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "When it is said to you, 'What is your madhhab', what is your reply?"

Questioner: "A Muslim."

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "This is not sufficient!"

Questioner: "Allaah has named us Muslims" and he recited the saying of Allaah Most High (which means): "He is the one who has called you Muslims beforehand." (al-Hajj, ayah 78)

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "This would be a correct answer if we were in the very first times (of Islaam) before the sects had appeared and spread. But if we were to ask, now, any Muslim from any of these sects with which we differ on account of 'aqeedah, his answer would not be any different to this word. All of them - the Shi'ite Raafidi, the Khaariji, the Nusayri Alawi - would say, 'I am a Muslim.' Hence, this is not sufficient in these days."

Questioner: "In that case I say, I am a Muslim upon the Book and the Sunnah."

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "This is not sufficient either."

Questioner: "Why?"

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "Do you find any of those whom we have just mentioned by way of example saying, 'I am a Muslim who is not upon the Book and the Sunnah?" Who is the one who says, 'I am not upon the Book and the Sunnah?'"

[At this point, the Shaikh began explaining in detail the importance of being upon the Book and the Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf us-Saalih (righteous predecessors).]

Questioner: "In that case, I am a Muslim upon the Book and the Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf us-Saalih."

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "When a person asks you about your madhhab, is this what you will say to him?"

Questioner: "Yes".

Shaikh al-Albaanee: "What is your view that we shorten this phrase in the language, since the best words are those that are few but indicate the desired intent, so we say, 'Salafee'?"... [Cassette: "I am a Salafee," via SalafiTalk.Net]

And on another occasion, Shaikh Al-Albaanee refuted a slightly different version of the same doubt "why don't the Salafiyyoon leave these titles" with a beautiful and insightful response.

Shaikh Al-Albaanee answered: "If you leave off the ascription to so and so Hizb (party), and to such and such Hizb, and leave off the ascription to such and such MadhHab (school of thought), then at that time we can say we are Muslims. As for these names, then they exemplify divisions in this Ummah due to current ideologies and biasness to Madhaahib.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong, if we say: we will gather all these ascriptions into one ascription, and this is not possible for anyone from those people (those who follow Parties and Sects) – if they have knowledge of the truth that they can dispute whether that the Da'wat-us-Salafiyyah is the true Da'wah or not, and as proof for this we use the saying of Allaah Ta'ala:

وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدَى وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّه ِ مَا تَوَلَّى وَنُصْلِه ِ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرا

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad, (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' (companions') way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination. (An-Nisa`, ayah 115)." [Taken from Silsilah Huda wa Noor, Tape: 848]

So Shaikh Al-Albaanee beautifully explained to him that if all these groups left their bid'ah and their invented methodologies - for example, if the Soofiyah made tawbah for calling upon the dead and believing in Wahdat al-Wujood and Hulool and all their bid'ah and Shirk - and returned to the correct Islaam that Allaah revealed to Muhammad, then we would all be upon the correct Islaam as the Sahaaba all were and then there would be no need to say anything other than "I am Muslim."

Hence, the point is that naming with "Muslim" is not enough, since everyone will claim that - even the vile Raafidi and the Soofi and the Kharijee and the Ikhwani and the Tableeghi. And the Shaikh emphasized the importance of the truth being distinguished from the falsehood. Shaikh al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah) also mentioned that our 'Aqeedah and Manhaj must be taken from the Salaf us-Salih (Prophet and his companions) and not from the various sects and groups, whose understandings are based upon those of their mentors and leaders, or their own opinion.

The titles of Ahlul-Bid'ah are proofs of their division and opposition to the truth, whereas the titles of the Salafees are proofs of holding onto the truth and distinguishing themselves from Ahlul-Bid'ah and their falsehood.

The True Salafees Today are upon the Same 'Aqeedah and the Same Manhaj and the Same Path as The Salaf

Abu Al-Mudhaffar al-Sam'ani (rahimahullaah) said: "From what shows that the people of Hadeeth are upon the truth is that if you were to examine all of their written works from the first of them to the last of them, from the oldest of them to the newest of them, despite them living in different lands and during different times, and the great distances that separate them, and the fact that each one of them inhabited a different region, you will find them - when expounding upon their beliefs - upon a single way, upon a single method and they traverse upon a single path without deviating from it or turning away from it.

They are united in their speech concerning it, and their actions are one. You will not witness any differing and separation amongst them about anything, even if it is insignificant.

Rather, if you were to collect everything that has been stated upon their tongues and what they conveyed from their predecessors, you will find that it is as if it has come from a single heart and come from a single tongue. And is there any evidence for truth that is clearer than this?

Allaah said:

Do they not then consider the Qur`an carefully? Had it been from other than Allaah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (An-Nisa`, ayah 82)

And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allaah (i.e. this Qur`aan), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allaah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islaamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allaah makes His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided. (Aali Imran, ayah 103)

But if you were to look at the people of desires and bid'ah, you would see that they are divided and differ with one another; they are factions and sects. It would be unlikely to find two groups from among them that are upon the same path in terms of their beliefs..." [Al-Intisaar li Ahl-al-Hadeeth]

Examples of The Great Danger of Misunderstanding Ayat of the Qur`an or Ahadeeth of the Sunnah

Below are a few examples of the great difference between the understaning of the Salaf and the understanding of the Khalaf, and thus the tremendous danger that the latter group subjects itself to by understanding the Qur`an and Sunnah in a way that Prophet Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) did not explain to his companions.

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta'aala, said:

O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those from amongst you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allaah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. (An-Nisa`, ayah 59)

For example, in the above ayah of Soorat an-Nisa`, Allaah commands with obeying Him and obeying His Messenger, and those in authority. Who are those in authority? This includes the Muslim rulers and the true scholars. The Muslim rulers and the true scholars are to be obeyed in what does not include disobedience. So from obeying the Muslim ruler is that the Muslim ruler is not to be rebelled against - even if he is unjust - as is clearly explained in the Sunnah.

Allaah sent down the Sunnah to His Messenger to explain the Qur`an. Among the proofs for this are Allaah's statements:

Allaah said:

Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur`an, Oh Muhammad) to make haste therewith. It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad) the ability to recite it (the Qur`an). And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad through Jibreel], then follow you its (the Qur`an's) recital. Then it is for Us (Allaah) to make it clear to you. (Al-Qiyamah, ayat 16-19)

and:

...And We have also sent down unto you (O Muhammad) the reminder (the Sunnah), that you may explain clearly to men what is sent down to them (the Qur`an)... (An-Nahl, ayah 44)

So Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) taught the Sahaaba the meaning intended for the ayat of the Qur`an and the ahadeeth of the Sunnah.

Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq (radiallaahu 'anhu) said: "Which earth will carry me? Which sky will shade me? If I say about an ayah from the Book of Allaah other than what Allaah, the Perfect and Most High, intended." [At-Tabari 1:78]

Shaykh-ul-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said: "Whoever deviates from the Madhhab and Tafseer of the Sahaaba and Tabi'een to that which opposes it, then he has erred in that - rather (he has) innovated." [Refer to Majmoo' al-Fataawa, volume 13, p.361]

Ibn 'Abdul-Hadee (d.748H, rahimahullaah) said: "It is not permissible to invent an interpretation about a verse or a Sunnah which was not found in the time of the Salaf, if they did not have any knowledge concerning it, and if they did not explain it to the Ummah. Since this would imply that the Salaf (Prophet and companions, tabi'een) were ignorant of the truth in this matter and failed to reach it, whereas the late-coming opponent is somehow guided to the truth!" [Refer to as-Saarimul-Munkee (p.427).]

So in the Sunnah, which explains the Qur`an, Allaah's Messenger prohibited rebellion against the ruler - even if he is unjust, in accordance with his (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) statement: You should hear and obey the ruler - even if he flogs your backs and takes your wealth, then still hear and obey. [Reported by Muslim (Eng. trans Vol 3/1029/34554)]

Shaikh Rabee' said: "These texts were regarding unjust rulers, and still the Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) instructed (the people) to have patience with them. He did not allow rebelling and opposing them."

The Khawaarij refuse to understand this hadeeth and others like it in the legislated manner, in the manner intended by Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam).

When Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) taught the sahaaba this important lesson in 'Aqeedah and Manhaj, the sahaaba asked the Prophet for the reason, and he taught them from that which Allaah revealed to him "So that the blood will not be shed," meaning that it would otherwise lead to the spilling of the blood (a greater evil!).

So the Sahaaba memorized this from him, implemented it, and relayed it to the tabi'een.

As Shaikh FalaH Isma'eel (hafidhahullaah Ta'aala) pointed out [shortly after Egypt's Husni Mubarak was removed] that the tryannical ruler Al-Hajjaaj who ruled toward the latter portion of the time of the Sahaabah was way, way more unjust than Mubaarak, yet the Sahaabah and the tabi'een didn't rebel.

A group came to ask the Salaf (the remaining sahaaba and the tabi'een) for advice regarding this very matter during the fitnah of al-Hajjaj, and the Salaf advised not to rebel. But this group rejected the advice and rebelled and were killed, and - just as the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) warned - this rebellion of theirs only led to a greater evil.

It was authentically reported that Al-Hajjaaj killed 120,000 people - including some companions - and jailed 80,000 others. With all this, the companions didn't rebel due to what the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) advised them with from revelation.

The Sahaaba didn't refrain from rebelling because they were pleased with the actions of al-Hajjaj, no!

Rather, they refrained from rebelling because they were commanded not to rebel by Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). When Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) taught them this important lesson in 'Aqeedah and Manhaj, the sahaaba asked him why not, and he told them because it would lead to the spilling of the blood (a greater evil!). This answer was sufficient for the sahaaba (radiallaahu Ta'aala 'anhum) because they knew that the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) did not speak from his own accord. It is only revelation that is revealed. (an-Najm, ayah 4) This prohibition was from the perfect wisdom of Allaah, Subhana!

Likewise, when the scholars explained the perfect wisdom in the prohibitions of Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) against rebellion and revolution - that it leads to the spilling of the blood and a greater evil and causes chaos and the removal of safety - the people in whose hearts there is hypocrisy express doubt, and rebel anyway. As the people of knowledge noticed: way more killings and murders (let alone looting and rapes and all the chaos and removal of safety) occurred during the recent revolution against the Egyptian government than during Husni Mubarak's entire tenure as ruler before the revolution!

Allaah told the truth! His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) told the truth!

And this is exactly in accordance with the statement of the Salaf (radiallaahu 'anhum), who said: "Sixty years under an oppressive ruler is better than one night with the fitnah that is continuous."

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah Ta'aala) said: "Indeed it has been stated: 'Ninety-nine years with an oppressive ruler is better than a single night without a ruler.'" [6]

Here are some examples of twisting and misunderstanding the meaning of Allaah's ayat and ahadeeth that the Soofees are infamous for:

- At the very end of Surat al-Hijr, Allaah says:

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ

And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). (Al-Hijr, ayah 99) In this ayah, Yaqeen means death. The Soofees - without verifying with the authentic tafseer of the Sahaaba - took this to mean being certain that Allaah is the Lord and the like, so when they claim to reach this, they leave off worship. This is no doubt kufr, as Allaah did not create us except to worship Him (alone). And leaving the salat is apostasy, as the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Between a man and between disbelief and polytheism is leaving off the salat." [Muslim] Had they simply reflected, they might have come to the realization that the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) had yaqeen yet he didn't leave off worship.

And the likes of this is witnessed til today, such that the Iqamah will be called and some will remain in the back, so one will enquire about them and he will be told, "They have Yaqeen." Aoodhubillaah! And there are examples more severe than this, but this will suffice, in sha` Allaah.

Another example of the tremendous danger of understanding an ayah or hadeeth with other than its correct understanding is Abu Hurairah's statement: "I have memorized two kinds of knowledge from Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'laihi wa sallam). I have propagated one of them to you and if I propagated the second, then my pharynx (throat) would be cut (i.e. killed)."

And if the Soofis were to simply look into Fat-H al-Baari - which is the explanation of Saheeh al-Bukhaaree - they would have learned that this means that Abu Hurairah knew the names of the crude rulers who would come in the time of fitan (trials) - hence his seeking refuge in Allaah from the head of the sixty - and the leadership of the youth, pointing to the kingship of Yazid bin Mu'awiyyah, because it was in the year sixty after Hijrah. [Subhan-Allaah, Allaah answered the du'aa of Abu Hurairah, taking the companion's life a year before it!]

So the deviant and evil leaders amongst the Soofees (and Batiniyyah) deceived their followers into using this as a "proof" that there is a "secret knowledge" of the Qur`an. So these leaders forge and lie and attribute these forgeries and lies to "secret knowledge." Even then, these blind followers should know to reject this evil and run away due to their Fitrah (natural inclination of recognizing right and wrong) and secondly their knowledge that Allaah does not contradict himself:

أَفَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ غَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا فِيهِ اخْتِلاَفا ً كَثِيرا

Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allaah, they would surely have found therein much contradictions. (An-Nisa`, ayah 82)

They must reject falsehood. They should reflect: How is it possible that Allaah (Subhanahu wa Ta'aala) declares worshipping other than Him (calling upon other than Him, slaughtering for other than Him, seeking refuge in other than Him) Kufr throughout the Qur`an and Sunnah, yet this Soofee guy here is telling me that "Allaah revealed to him that du'aa can be made to other than Him?"

Red Flag! It's not possible.

Again, if your point of reference of whom/what you worship and what you hold as your 'aqeedah is not the Qur`an and Sunnah, then what is the difference between you and the Jews and Christians and the rest of the mushrikeen?

And there are over 1,000 proofs from the Qur`an and Sunnah regarding Allaah's 'Uluw (Allaah, in His Self, being above everything). In His Self, Allaah is above everything. Allaah's knowledge is everywhere. Allaah knows everything, sees everything, and hears everything. In His Self, Allaah is above everything. Here are a few proofs:

وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِه ِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ

And He is the Irresistible, above His slaves, and He is the All-Wise, Well-Acquainted with all things. (Al-An'aam, ayah 18) So He is above and separate from His creation. Again, He is separate from His creation.

They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded. (An-Nahl, ayah 50)

Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allaah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)? (Al-Mulk, ayah 16)

The Most Beneficent (Allaah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). (Ta-Ha, ayah 5)

There comes an authentic narration in the Sunan of Imam Ad-Darimee on the authority of 'Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu ta'aala 'anhu) that he said:

"Indeed between the [first] heaven and the earth (and that which it contains) is a distance of 500 years. And between each two heavens is a distance of 500 years. [So 500 years between the first and the second heaven, and 500 years between the second and the third heaven, and so on and so forth.] And between the seventh heaven and the kursi is 500 years traveling distance. And between the kursi and the water is another 500 years traveling distance. And the 'Arsh [Throne of Allaah] is above the water. And Allaah is above His ('Arsh) Throne. And nothing of your actions is hidden from Allaah.

Subhan-Allaah!

And from these people are those who reject all 1,000-plus proofs of Allaah's 'Uluw (highness) because they misunderstand an ayah or two - or blindly follow those who do. One of those ayat is:

He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and then Istawaa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). He knows what goes into the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the heaven and what ascends thereto. And He is with you (by His Knowledge) wheresoever you may be. And Allaah is the All-Seer of what you do. (Al-Hadid, ayah 4)

So instead of understanding this ayah as all of the Sahaaba understood this ayah from the teachings of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam), these people of evil and little knowledge are quick to deny the multitude of clear ayat regarding Allaah's 'Uluw. This is bad manners with Allaah. Thus they pin an ayah of Allaah against other ayat of Allaah - accusing Allaah of contradicting Himself, audhoobillaah! - when the deficiency simply lies in their own understanding.

As some of the Salaf have said: How many people seek to find fault with a statement that is correct, and their downfall is their own faulty understanding?

So instead of asking the people of knowledge, as Allaah commands in the Qur`an -

...So ask the people of Knowledge, if you do not know. (Al-Anbiya: 7) - these people of bid'ah seek fitnah. And from the perfection and completeness of this Religion, Allaah informs us of these people in His noble ayah:

It is He Who has sent down to you (Muhammad) the Book (this Qur`an). In it are Verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book; and others not entirely clear. So as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth), they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.), and seeking for its hidden meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings save Allaah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord." And none receive admonition except men of understanding. (Aali Imran, ayah 7) The Salaf reported that all of Ahlul-Bid'ah are referred to in Allaah's statement: those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth), they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah.

Shaikh Rabee' bin Hadee al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah) said: "So Allaah clarifies in this verse the true condition of the people of deviance and desires, and that they intend for the Muslims evil and fitnah. This is because their intentions are not correct, and their hearts are sick, and they want the people to be affected by the same poisons that are affecting them. So due to this, it is wajib (obligatory) that they are warned against to the full extent of our ability.

Verily, Allaah has informed us in this verse [7th verse of Soorat Ali-'Imran] that those in whose hearts there is deviance seek those verses that are not entirely clear because they want fitnah. They want people to have fitnah in the religion, so they go astray from Allaah's true religion and end up in the same state of innovation, misguidance, doubts and confusion that those innovators themselves are in. And we ask Allaah that He saves us and them from this evil path, and saves them from those things that can cause destruction. [Ameen.]

The Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) recited this [above] verse and then said: "If you see those who seek the verses which are not entirely clear, then they are those whom Allaah has named, so beware of them." [Bukhaaree]

So the people of deviance and desires seek to base their religion upon the verses that are not entirely clear. So the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) meant it is wajib to warn the people from them, because they are astray and they lead the people astray. And this is how Ahlul Bid'ah are in every time and in every place, whatever type of bid'ah [they're upon]. You should never think of a bid'ah as something small or insignificant."

That ayah from Soorat al-Hadid requires other texts to explain it, but these people don't seek that knowledge. They are quick to deny the clear ayat and accuse Allaah of contradicting Himself when the simple truth is that the one ayah or two ayat that they use to deny the over 1,000 proofs means that Allaah is with you wheresoever you may be - by His Knowledge. Allaah hears everything, sees everything, knows everything, you cannot go anywhere or do anything or say anything and Allaah not know about it or see it or hear it.

All the Sahaaba (companions) agreed regarding this, as did the second and third generations. And as the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: Indeed, Allaah The Most High will not unite my Ummah upon misguidance. [At-Tirmidhee; declared saheeh by Al-Albaanee] Ummah in this hadeeth here refers to the companions - first and foremost.

Imam Abu Haneefah (rahimahullaah) was asked about the one who denies that Allaah is above His Throne, Imam Abu Haneefah said: "the one who denies that Allaah is above His Throne is a kaafir."

The questioner returned and asked what about the one who says he doesn't know (upon knowledge of the proofs). Imam Abu Haneefa said: "He, too, is a kaafir."

'Abdur-Rahman Ibn 'Amr Al-Awza'ee (d. 157H): "We used to say while the Tabi'oon were widespread that 'Allaah is above His Throne, baa'in (separate) from His creation.'" [Related by al-Bayhaqi in al-Asma` was-Sifaat (p. 408)]

Also, Ishaaq Ibn Raahawayh was asked about Allaah's statement (which means): ...There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be... (Al-Mujadilah, ayah 7) and said: "No matter where you are, He is closer to you than your jugular vein. However, he is baa'in (separate) from His creation." Then he relayed the statement of 'Abdullaah ibnul-Mubaarak (rahimahullaah): "He is above His Throne - baa'in (separate) from His creation." [Al-Harawee in Dhammul-Kalaam (6/120/1) and Mukhtasirul-'Uluww (no. 233).]

And likewise, Allaah's statement:

If you help him (Muhammad) not (it does not matter), for Allaah did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of two, when they (Muhammad and Abu Bakr) were in the cave, and he (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said to his companion (Abu Bakr): "Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allaah is with us." Then Allaah sent down His Sakeenah (calmness, tranquillity, peace, etc.) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while it was the Word of Allaah that became the uppermost, and Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (At-Tawbah, ayah 40) As the people of knowledge have explained, this means that Allaah is with His Prophet and Abu Bakr - by His Aid and support - and not with Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab and the rest of the mushrikeen in search of them. Then Allaah sent down His Sakeenah upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels)

Sadly, there are many examples of people misunderstanding texts - although the texts and their correct understanding - have all been preserved and are entirely available. These examples only serve to magnify the tremendous importance of correct understanding as comes in the hadeeth of Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), who said: Whomever Allaah intends good for, He gives correct understanding of the Religion. [Bukhaaree]

As the scholars have explained, correct understanding is understanding the ayat and the ahadeeth with the meaning intended by Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Again, correct understanding is understanding the ayat and the ahadeeth with the meaning intended by Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).

And from Allaah's Mercy, He has preserved the entire religion.

As the people of knowledge have explained: This correct understanding of Islaam - which the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) conveyed to his companions - is in fact preserved til today, and there are those who know it and teach it and practice it. And it is preserved.

Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta'aala, said:

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَه ُ لَحَافِظُونَ

Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr, ayah 9)

And Allaah, Subhanahu wa Ta'aala, said:

وَإِنَّه ُ لَكِتَابٌ عَزِيزلاَ يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلاَ مِنْ خَلْفِه ِ تَنزِيل ٌ مِنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيد

And verily, it is an honourable respected Book (because it is Allaah's Speech, and He has protected it from corruption, etc.). Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it. (It is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allaah). (Fussilat, ayah 41-42)

So it's not possible for someone to enter falsehood into the Noble Qur`an and the purified Sunnah.

The perfect wisdom and reason for Allaah The All-Wise preserving this legislation - what He revealed to His Messenger - is that this legislation is the seal of all legislations, and Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is the seal of all Prophets (there being no Prophet after him), and the Qur`an is the seal of all revealed Books. So Allaah preserved this Deen and preserved the correct understanding so that the proof is established, such that whoever seeks the true Deen, it is preserved for him.

The three means by which Allaah preserved His Religion are:

1- The preservation of the wording of the Wahy, revelation. The verses of the Qur`an have been preserved and memorized. The narrations of the Sunnah have been preserved and memorized. The proof:

Allaah's statement:

Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). (Al-Hijr, ayah 9)

2- The preservation of the intended meaning of the verses and narrations. The tabi'een recorded the statements and meanings from the companions regarding all that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) conveyed and relayed to them until such time that they were put into books such as the Saheeh of Imam al-Bukharee, Saheeh Muslim, Musnad of Imam Ahmad, Muwatta of Imam Malik, and all those books in which is gathered all that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) conveyed and explained of the Qur`an and Sunnah and their meanings. These Imams guarded this more so than they guarded their wealth, and all this was conveyed with a sound chain of transmission.

3- The preservation (Hifdh) of actions and knowledge together. And this was done by way of those who came after the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), and it is done in every time. By the mercy of Allaah, there will always be people who have knowledge of the Deen of Allaah, knowledge of the Qur`an and Sunnah, and practice it, and teach it to others. And the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) clearly foretold this when he said: There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah upon the truth, uppermost. They will not be harmed by those who desert them or those who oppose them, until the affair of Allaah - the Blessed and Exalted - arrives, and they are in this state.

At-Taa`ifatul Mansoorah (The Aided Group) -----> This group [referred to in the above hadeeth] will always exist, a physical embodiment of acting upon the Qur`an and Sunnah (with their intended understanding) as an example for the people to see. They [this Aided Group] are the witnesses of Allaah, Tabarak wa Ta'aala (Blessed and Exalted), upon the people. They are saying to the people by their beliefs and statements and actions and knowledge: 'Look, here is the Islaam that Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and his companions were upon.'

It can be believed correctly, understood correctly, and implemented and acted upon correctly, and the Salafees are witnesses upon that by their very actions. So this is the great principle: all knowledge and all understanding of the Deen must come from the Qur`an and Sunnah. Its only source is Qur`an and Sunnah. This is the great fundamental principle that must be understood.

This At-Taa`ifatul Mansoorah (The Aided Group) is none other than The Saved Sect, the Salafees, Ahlul-Hadeeth, those adhering to the correct Islaam, what Allaah revealed to His Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). May Allaah guide you to it.

Notes:
[1] This statement from Shaikh Ahmad an-Najmee (rahimahullaah) was translated and relayed by student Abu 'Abdis-Salaam Siddiq Al-Juyaanee (hafidhahullaah), and can be found on his website SalafyInk.

[2] Bid'ah is defined in the Sharee'ah as: any belief, statement, or action invented or introduced after the Prophet's death, by which the one adhering to this bid'ah seeks nearness to Allaah by it - without proof from the Qur`an or the authentic Sunnah or the actions of the Sahaaba (radiallaahu 'anhum).

'Abdullaah ibn 'Abbaas (radiallaahu 'anhummaa) said: "Indeed the most hated of affairs with Allaah is bid'ah (innovation)." [al-Laalikaai (1/132) Abu Nu'aim in Hulyah (7/26) and Baghawi in Sharh Sunnah (1/216)].

Imam Maalik (D. 159) said: "Whosoever introduces a bid'ah into Islaam, and holds it to be something good, has alleged that Muhammad has betrayed his message. Read the saying of Allaah:

...This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion... (Al-Ma`idah, ayah 3)

So that which was not part of the Religion at that time cannot be part of the Religion today. And the last part of this Ummah cannot be rectified except by that which rectified its first part." [al-I'tisaam]

Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said: "Therefore, the innovations in reality are indirect criticisms of the Sharee'ah, because they necessitate the implication that the Sharee'ah is incomplete and that the innovation is a more perfect form of worship to seek nearness to Allaah as the innovator claims." [Majmoo' Fataawa wa Rasaa'il - Volume Two, Number 345]

Bid'ah is accusing Allaah's perfect and completed Religion of deficiency.

Refuge in Allaah is taken from this!

[3] The innovator becomes a polytheist or disbeliever if his bid'ah reaches the level of Kufr, such as denying any Attribute of Allaah (such as His Highness, His face, His hands), or attributing to any of the creation what is specific to Allaah such as knowledge of the Unseen, or making tawaff around the grave seeking nearness to the dead. If the innovator dies upon this, his eternal abode will be the hellfire (forever) even if he claimed 'Islaam.' Refuge in Allaah is taken from this! If his bid'ah does not reach the level of Kufr, then the innovator is still a Muslim, but he is threatened with the hellfire. If he rejects the truth when advised with it, then he is not to be respected, and he is to be abandoned, and warned against.

[4] Allaah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: I have left amongst you that which if you hold onto you will never go astray: the Book of Allaah and my Sunnah. [Al-Haakim; Hasan hadeeth]

And among the proofs for the Ijma' (when the sahaaba all agreed on a matter, or the true Salafee Imams after them - those using the Qur`an and Sunnah upon their intended meaning as proof - all agree on a matter) is the statement of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam): Indeed, Allaah The Most High will not unite my Ummah upon misguidance. [At-Tirmidhee; declared saheeh by Al-Albaanee]

Imam Al-Awza'ee said: "Knowledge is what reaches you from the companions of Muhammad, and anything else is not considered knowledge." [Ibn 'Abdul-Barr in Jaami' Bayaan al-Ilm wa Fadhluhu (2/29)]

And, as has been reported and relayed by many scholars: "Knowledge is 'Allaah said,' 'His Messenger said,' 'the companions said.' There is no discrepency therein."

[5] Allaah said:

And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Qur'an) that when you hear the Verses of Allaah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allaah will collect the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell (An-Nisa`, ayah 140) Imam At-Tabari (rahimahullaah) said these above ayat refer to people engaged in their batil (falsehood), whether it be shirk, bid'ah or sin.

Abu Hurairah (radiallaahu anhu) said, the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: A person is upon the deen of his friend, so let each one of you look at whom he befriends. [Saheeh; Refer to Silsilah as-Saheehah of al-Albaani (no.927)]

Ibn Mas'ood (radiallaahu 'anhu) said, "Indeed a person walks alongside and accompanies the one whom he loves and who is like him." [Al-Ibaanah (2/476)]

Ibn 'Abbaas (radiallaahu 'anhumma) said, "Do not sit with the people of desires, for verily their sittings causes diseases to enter the hearts." [Al-Ibaanah, no. 371]

Abu ad-Dardaa (radiallaahu 'anhu) said, "It is from the fiqh (understanding of a person) that he [chooses] those whom he walks with, whom he enters upon (visits) and whom he sits with." [Al-Ibaanah (2/477)]
