Refuting Ahlul-Bid'ah is considered as jihaad

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmee

Question: Is the statement of one who says that: "Whoever refutes the Ahlul-Bid'ah is considered a mujaahid in the Path of Allaah" - is this statement correct or not? Response: Yes. The one who refutes the Ahlul-Bid'ah (people of innovation) is a mujaahid, and there is no doubt about this. Since when Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was told about a man who fasts, and offers salaah, and gives in charity, and performs the i'tikaaf, and does (other) good deeds, and was (then) told about a man who refutes the innovators - implying which of the two was better? He (Imaam Ahmad) said: ((Whoever offers salaah and fasts and gives in charity and performs i'tikaaf, then (all of) this is for himself, and as for he who refutes the innovators, then this is for (the benefit of) the people)). So there is no doubt that whoever refutes the innovators is better, and the statements of the 'ulamaa. regarding this are many. Regarding those who claim that the Saudi state fights the religion

Question:What is your advice to those who say that this country fights the deen and restricts the du’aat?

Answer:Since the Saudi state began, it has been aiding the deen and its people, and it was not set up except on this foundation. And now it aids the Muslims in every place with financial help, building Islamic centres and masaajid, sending du’aat, printing books foremost amongst them - the Noble Qur’aan, opening centres of learning and Sharee’ah colleges, and also it rules by the Islamic Sharee’ah and has an independent body for enjoining good and forbidding evil in every town. And all of that is a proof that this state aids Islaam and its people, and it is a thorn in the throats of the hypocrites and the people of evil and splitting. And Allaah will aid His deen even if the mushrikeen and those of evil intentions hate it.
And we do not say that this state is perfect in every way and that it doesn’t have any mistakes. Mistakes occur from everyone, but we ask Allaah to aid us in rectifying the mistakes. And if the one who said this looked at himself he would find mistakes in himself which would prevent him from speaking about others and he would be ashamed to look at the people.

The Claim That There Are ‘Good Innovations’ In The Religion

There is no such thing as a ‘good bid’ah' (innovation) as is claimed by some of the ignorant ones. Innovations – in their entirety are a going astray, as was judged by the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) in his saying:
((…Every innovation is a going astray.))* and in another narration:
((…And every going astray is in the Hell-fire.))**
As for the saying of Ameer ul Mu’mineen ‘Umar bin Al-Khattaab (radhiyallaahu ‘anhu) concerning the Taraweeh prayer: ‘What a good bid’ah this is’ – then he did not intend by this the bid’ah (innovation) in the Religion. Since he said this statement when the people gathered to pray the Taraweeh prayer, and the Taraweeh prayer is not an innovation. Rather it is a Sunnah which has been established from the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam). He prayed it along with his companions on some of the nights of Ramadhaan. Then he kept away from them at the end for fear that it should seem obligatory upon them. The affair remained so during the Khilaafah of Abee Bakr, and for some time during the Khilaafah of ‘Umar, they would pray it separately whereupon ‘Umar gathered the people behind a single Imaam, just as they had gathered behind the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).
Thus ‘Umar revived this Sunnah, since the object of caution had ceased; which was: taking it as an obligation. So he revived a Sunnah – he did not come with an innovation.
Rather his saying: ‘What an good bid’ah this is’ – then his intent with that – and Allaah Knows best – was the linguistic meaning of an innovation not the Shar’ee (legislative) innovation. This is because legislative innovations are prohibited in Islaam, and the proof is based upon what we mentioned: that he intended by it the Taraweeh prayer – and the Taraweeh prayer is not an innovation – rather it is a Sunnah.

Praying a number of prayers with the same Tayammum

Question:Is it allowed to pray a number of obligatory prayers with the same tayammum as is done after making wudhoo with water or is tayammum to be done for every prayer?

Answer:Allaah The Most High has made tayammum as an alternative for wudhoo, so whatever is permissible for the one who has wudhoo to perform, then likewise is the case for the one who has made tayammum. There is a weak hadeeth as appears in Buloogh al Maraam, that one cannot pray with a tayammum except one prayer, but this hadeeth is weak, and so it is permissible for one to pray a number of prayers.

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen: The Suicide Bomber is Not A Martyr And Is In Hellfire

The Words of Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen Concerning Suicide Bombings
Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said in his explanation of Riyaadus-Saaliheen (1/165-166), whilst giving some points of benefit from the hadeeth of Suhayb, may Allaah be pleased with him:
"That Allaah¹s Messenger, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, said, "There used to be a king amongst those who came before you, and he had a sorcerer. So when he grew old he said to the king, I have become old so send a boy to me so that I can teach him sorcery" the hadeeth. (Riyaadhus-Saaliheen, no. 30)
Fourthly: That it is permissible for a person to expose himself to danger for a matter of general benefit to the Muslims, because the boy indicated to the king the way in which he would be able to kill him, and which would lead to his demise, which was that he should take an arrow from his quiver etc.
Shaikhul-Islaam (Ibn Taymiyyah) said, "Because this was a Jihaad in Allaah¹s cause, which caused a whole nation to truly believe, and he did not really lose anything, since although he died he would have to die anyway, sooner or later."
But as for what some people do regarding activities of suicide, tying explosives to themselves and then approaching Unbelievers and detonating them amongst them, then this is a case of suicide and Allaah¹s refuge is sought. So whoever commits suicide then he will be consigned eternally to Hell-Fire, remaining there forever, as occurs in the hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam. (i.e., his, sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam, saying, " and whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, then the iron weapon will remain in his hand, and he will continuously stab himself in his belly with it in the Fire of Hell eternally, forever and ever." Reported by al-Bukhaaree, no. 5778 and Muslim, no. 109, in the Book of Eemaan.)
Because this person has killed himself and has not benefited Islaam. So if he kills himself along with ten, or a hundred, or two hundred other people, then Islaam will not benefit by that, since the people will not accept Islaam, contrary to the story of the boy. Rather it will probably just make the enemy more determined, and this action will provoke malice and bitterness in his heart to such an extent that he may seek to wreak havoc upon the Muslims.
This is what is found from the practice of the Jews with the people of Palestine so when one of the Palestinian blows himself up and kills six or seven people, then in retaliation they take sixty or more. So this does not produce any benefit for the Muslims, and does not benefit those amongst whose ranks explosives are detonated.
So what we hold is that those people who perform these suicide (bombings) have wrongfully committed suicide, and that this necessitates entry into Hell-Fire, and Allaah¹s refuge is sought and that this person is not a martyr (shaheed). However if a person has done this based upon misinterpretation, thinking that it is permissible, then we hope that he will be saved from sin, but as for martyrdom being written for him, then no, since he has not taken the path of martyrdom. But whoever performs ijtihaad and errs will receive a single reward (if he is a person qualified to make ijtihaad)."(End of the Shaikh's words)
